Dear CANES Community,

We are pleased to announce that James Meloche will be joining CANES Community Care as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 5, 2025.

James brings decades of experience across Ontario’s healthcare system, with leadership roles spanning public policy, system strategy, and community-based service delivery. Most recently, as CEO of Community Care Durham (CCD), he spearheaded transformative initiatives that strengthened operational performance, improved client and staff experiences, and introduced innovative models of care — all while keeping the mission of independent living at the forefront.

A passionate advocate for individual and community wellbeing, James is known for his visionary and human-centered leadership style. Under his tenure at CCD, he launched impactful programs like Hospital to Home, integrated community nursing services, and a mobile market to improve food access — while also investing in the technology, infrastructure, and partnerships needed for long-term sustainability. James holds degrees in philosophy and political science and is a lifelong learner, cyclist, and photographer with a love for exploring both ideas and the world around him.

We are confident that James’ depth of experience, values-driven leadership, and commitment to innovation and collaboration will be an incredible asset to CANES as we continue to evolve and grow in service to our clients and communities.

Please join us in warmly welcoming James to the CANES family!
