We are pleased to announce that Glen Vander Elst, CPA, CA, has joined CANES Community Care as our new Chief Financial Officer. Glen is a seasoned finance professional with over 15 years of experience in audit, tax, and advisory services. His expertise spans various industries, including government, not-for-profit, charity, and various large for-profit sectors. As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Glen has demonstrated proficiency in accounting frameworks such as PSAS, ASNPO, ASPE, IFRS, and USGAAP, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
In his role as CFO, Glen will lead all accounting, finance, and enterprise risk management functions. He will play a critical role in business decision-making, implementing strategic action plans, and preparing and presenting financial reports and annual budgets. Glen will collaborate closely with the CEO and COO on financial planning and assist with financial reporting at Board of Directors’ meetings and Annual Meetings.

Prior to joining CANES Community Care, Glen was the Director of Finance at Skilled Trades Ontario, where he led the finance department, overseeing procurement, financial reporting, compliance with Ministry regulations, and risk reporting. He successfully transitioned accounting standards from ASNPO to PSAS and identified material errors in legacy ERP/CRM systems, leading to improved financial accuracy and compliance.
Glen recently completed the CFO Leadership Program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, further enhancing his leadership skills and strategic financial expertise.
