and through support group leadership. In addition, the Supervisor will be responsible for community


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This is a six month contract position.
  • Work to optimize client safety and quality of care with isolated, frail, low income elderly, disabled persons and families
  • Caregiver support, counseling, training and education
  • Responds to client concerns and problems by providing information and ensuring service needs are met
  • Intake, information and referral service, case consultation and group work
  • Community capacity building, including developing professional working relationships through networking, participation and memberships in organizations and associations
  • Responsible for day-today operation of program service delivery
  • Assists with setting goals and objectives for the program
  • Makes recommendations about policies and procedures
  •  Collects data and produces statistical reports and ensures program targets are met
  • Supervises Social Service Worker students completing placements with CANES
  • Willing and able to work as part of a team concept within a supportive environment
  • Works closely with all CANES staff in the provision of services and programs
  • Attends staff, committee and management team meetings
  • Attends seminars and workshops for upgrading training and education to fulfil the responsibilities of the job
  • Develops and maintains effective community relations to promote the agency and takes part in homemaking meetings, workshops and seminars held within the community
  • Ensures the anti-racism policy is achieved in the program
  • Ensures that CANES safety policies and procedures are maintained and adhered to
  • Responsible for emergency preparedness plan of the program and implements it in times of emergency
  • Contribute to a culture of client safety and employee Health and Safety, by complying with all safety practices of the organization, reporting unsafe practices and adverse events, and acting on safety recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Degree in social work or equivalent education and experience
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Assessment and intervention skills
  • Experience working in geriatrics and with people with dementia
  • Computer skills - intermediate level
  • Experience and knowledge in community capacity and community resources
  • Good communication, organization and writing skills
  • Clear Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening



  • 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday however you may be required to work additional hours and occasional weekends as required depending on client and program needs
