Common COVID-19 Vaccine Questions
There have been so many questions surrounding the vaccines slowing being rolled out across Canada and the world. As we are await our turn to receive the vaccine we thought we’d answer a few questions we’ve been asked.
Are the vaccines safe?
The vaccines are very safe! All vaccines go through clinical trials to test safety and effectiveness. Health Canada reports it has completed a rigorous, independent review of the data from clinical trials on the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness, which involved tens of thousands of people. Tens of thousands of people have already received the vaccines, and none of them have reported any serious side effects.
What are the side effects?
Similar to other Vaccines, like the flu shot some side effects commonly reported are short-lived discomfort in the arm and soreness around injection site for a day or 2.
Some may experience a slight headache the next day but according to Shoppers Drug mart pharmacists there were no adverse reactions at the clinic he was administering in.
Do I still need to wear a mask after I’m vaccinated?
Yes! Please continue to practice social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands and all other safe precautions we all have been following.

After getting the vaccine you can still be an a-symptomatic carrier and spread COVID-19 to other people. So continue practicing all the public health measures suggested by health officials.
