CANES Community Care is excited to announce that it has been awarded $590,700 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). These funds will be provided over three years to help the agency expand its Community Outreach Programs in Brampton and Woodbridge.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our agency to strengthen its community outreach programing and add a clinical component to our services” stated Jyoti Brar, Senior Director, Client Services at CANES.“ This funding will allow our organization to hire a new RPN and a PSW who are both trained in cultural diversity and speak multiple languages including Hindi and Punjabi” she added.
“I want to commend our senior management team for having the foresight to develop this important grant application and to congratulate them on its successful approval by OTF.” noted Chirasthi Mendis, Board Chair. “This will enhance our existing community outreach initiatives significantly and will provide much needed services to the South Asian communities of Brampton and Woodbridge.”
“We also appreciate that the OTF awarded capital funding for two new vehicles for community outreach” stated Mike Valkama, COO at CANES. “With these additional capital acquisitions CANES will now have fourteen vehicles on the road providing rides to seniors who need to get to medical appointments, adult day programs and community outreach activities” he added.
