Snow Shoveler (seasonal)

Position Summary: 
Who we serve: Seniors and adults with disabilities in Etobicoke and parts of former city of York and West Toronto. How is Service Provided? We refer clients to independent workers. The client calls the worker directly to arrange day and time for service. Snow-shovelling and grass cutting: CANES staff assign student or adult to a client for an entire season. Client will determine how they want to arrange service: e.g.
  • arrange to call their assigned worker as needed
  • arrange a regular (e.g. weekly) schedule
  • ask worker to shovel after each snowfall without a phone call
Client provides equipment, or worker may use their own.
Responsibilities: 
Remove snow from private driveways, walkways and sidewalks.
Rate of Pay: 
  • Students $10 per hour shoveling
  • Adults $20 per hour shoveling ($25 if using snow plow)
  • Client pays worker directly after work is completed.
  • Fees are paid by snowfall only, no seasonal fees.
